FAQs

+HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE A BESPOKE WEDDING DRESS?

It depends on the style and how much detail and embellishment is on the dress, bespoke garments can take anywhere from 30-100 hours to create! This is spread over several months and I suggest booking the initial consultation at least 8-12 months in advance, especially if your wedding is happening in the peak summer months. If you are short on time please still get in touch and we can see what’s possible.

+IS THERE A CONSULTATION FEE

No, bespoke dress consultations are complimentary.

+ HOW MANY FITTINGS WILL I HAVE TO COME TO FOR A BESPOKE DRESS?

Most dresses require 4-5 fittings with 2-3 of those being a ‘toile’ fitting which means fitting a prototype of your design before we cut the fabric. This checks that the unique pattern I draft using your measurements fits you perfectly.

+ WHEN WILL FITTINGS TAKE PLACE?

Due to the nature of having a dress entirely made by hand, scheduled fittings may be a little irregular. Sometimes, I only need to make a small tweak before seeing you again, but at certain points I need more time if the changes are more complex. I will stay in touch throughout the design process and give you as much notice as possible for each fitting.

+HOW MUCH DOES A BESPOKE WEDDING DRESS COST?

It depends on the design, how much detail or embellishment you would like and your preferred fabrics as a guide prices for my bespoke bridal service start at £1400 plus fabrics. If you have a budget in mind let me know and I can advise on what can be achieved within your price range.

+I’VE FOUND A DESIGN I LIKE, CAN YOU COPY IT?

Whilst I am happy to take inspiration from existing designs I would never make an exact copy of someone else’s work. If your heart is set on a particular design I can suggest ways we can modify it to make it unique to you.

+WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE FITTING APPOINTMENTS

To all the fitting appointments please make sure you have the undergarments and shoes that you plan to wear on your wedding day, please also make sure you don’t wear makeup to the fittings as this can rub off accidentally on the dress.

+HOW DO I PAY

Once you have decided to go ahead with your bespoke garment, I will issue an invoice for a 50% deposit, payable by bank transfer. The remaining 50% of the balance is payable in advance of the final fitting.

+IS THERE A BOOKING FEE

For bridal alterations we ask for a £25 appointment booking fee.
